MSPCA Create Pet Supply Center for Furloughed Workers

The MSPCA-Angell in Jamaica Plain will open a pet food and supply distribution center to assist those affected by the government shutdown.

As many as 8,000 workers in Massachusetts are without pay as a result from the shutdown, which is in its 27th day on Thursday.

The MSPCA will give those who attend a free bag of Hill’s Science Diet brand dog and cat food and a bag of cat litter.

The distribution center will open Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for any federal workers concerned on how they will feed their pets. The food drives will take place in Jamaica Plain, Methuen and Centerville locations.

Anyone who wants to donate food may also do so on Saturday or anytime the adoption centers are open.

For those who are unable to attend the food drives, individuals can e-mail adoption@mspca.org to make arrangements for pick-up.
