A man is dead after drowning in Bantam Lake on Sunday.
Police found the missing swimmer after searching the vicinity of the Point Folly campground.
Police responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a male swimmer who had gone under the water and did not surface.
Police said a 20-year-old male was having issues swimming. His girlfriend tried to help him out but was unsuccessful.
The man was about 50 yards out in 12 feet of water, according to police.
Divers found the swimmer and he was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5 p.m., police said.
It is unclear how long it took the dive team to find him.
Police are investigating the incident.
