A man who was found outside of a Dorchester restaurant after being shot in front of a beauty salon in nearby Mattapan has life-threatening injuries, Boston police say.
Authorities responded around 4:15 p.m. Thursday to reports of a shooting at 160 Norfolk St. where the victim was found close to the Only One Jamaican Restaurant, which had yellow crime tape up around it.
Police say he was shot on Morton St. in Mattapan near the Upscale Beauty Salon, where a bullet hole could be seen in the window.
The continued violence in the Boston neighborhood has frustration mounting at businesses along Morton St.
Edward Evans of Pit Stop Barbecue said, “I heard the gunshots, and I just saw a bunch of people scrambling, and then the police came and an ambulance came.
Evans says he’s upset with the ongoing violence.
“You find these little crowds arguing and all that, you can’t be around them. Any given time, you know what I’m saying,” he said.
Lisette Santana of Morton’s Pizza said: “Nobody wants to come to work, and it’s like okay, maybe I might get shot today at my job, I’m here to make my money. Everyone is here for the same thing.
At Morton’s Pizza, three bullet holes are still visible from another shooting in July: one is in the window, another in the door, and a third in the counter.
“It’s just annoying because they need to do something, just don’t stand in the street and say we’re going to help you out, we’re going to find the people or protect the community, actually do something,” said Santana.
It’s not clear how the victim, who has not been identified, ended up in Dorchester after being shot in Mattapan. He remained in critical condition Thursday nighit.
There is no word on a suspect.
The shooting is under investigation.
