One man is dead and another hospitalized after falling through the ice on Rogers Lake in Old Lyme on Saturday afternoon.
The two men were skating on the ice with hockey sticks when the ice gave way, according to state police.
A neighbor heard screams and called 911.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene and found one man in water up to his shoulders and clinging to the ice.
A second man went under, police said.
Dive teams recovered the body of the second man after an hour. He was identified as 60-year-old Harry Jewett, of Old Lyme.
The other victim is in stable condition in the hospital, according to police.
